NYSE-listed Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) is eyeing a 10-12 percent growth in its India business, in line with the headcount growth. The company, which has a global headcount of 97,000, has a 23,000-strong team in India. It is looking at a similar growth in the headcount, besides hiring 1,200 freshers from various campuses in the country in the next one year. “We started our application and remote infrastructure management business a year back after acquiring AppLabs and iSoft," said Vivek Chopra, president, global applications, CSC.

Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC), the $16.2 billion New York-listed technology-enabled business solutions and services provider, expects its operations in the country to mirror the 10-15 percent growth rate of its global applications business over the next three years. The company has nearly one-fourth of its staff based in India, and the operation supports the firm’s businesses in 90 countries. “India is a large delivery centre, we’ve started a small domestic presence and at this time (we’re) just dipping our toes, knowing that we are late in the marketplace,” said Vivek Chopra, president of global applications for CSC. “But we’re still wanting to go after the market in specific areas we believe we can make a difference and provide value to the customer.” “We looked at a couple of areas we want to work in. So in six-nine months, we’ll know the headway we’re making and then start etching our strategy a little more deeply,” he said.

CSC, whose workforce numbers reached 23,000 in India after acquisition of testing tools firm AppLabs, will hire 2,600 more this year. This incidentally may take the global employee base of CSC over the one-lakh mark. As of now, it has about 97,000 employees. In India, it has seven locations, the largest being Noida and Hyderabad. “We are going to add 10 percent more to the 23,000 staff in India this year. Of this, 70 percent would be freshers and the remaining would be laterals,” Brian J. Manning, President and Managing Director of CSC in India said on the sidelines of the Nasscom Leadership Forum on Thursday. The company, which has increased its focus on the domestic market, will bring Biz Cloud, the cloud-based solutions later this year.
